Buranda Girls' and Infants' State School opened on 4 March 1918. From 1934 until 1962 there was a separate Girls' State School and an Infants' State School (QA06158). In 1963 the two Schools were combined again and called Buranda Girls' and Infants' State School.

In 1967 Buranda Boys' State School was amalgamated with the Buranda Girls and Infants' State School to become Buranda State School.
