Description
Prenzlau Provisional School No.361 opened in 1894 with 24 pupils attending as a daily average. The first Head Teacher was a Miss Mary Vasey. On 1 May 1900 the school was upgraded to a State School.

It is worthwhile noting that prior to its opening, the school was going to be named Back Plains and was referred to as such in all the earliest correspondence between the school and the Department of Public Instruction. However, this should not cause confusion between this school and Back Plains State School No. 317 near Clifton which was established in 1879.

The school was situated on the Lockyer Creek, near Minden and Lowood. It is therefore possible to find Prenzlau referred to as Provisional School, Lockyer Creek.
