Jackson Provisional School No.659 opened in the South West Region of Queensland on 18 January 1892. The first Teacher was Nellie Elizabeth Joyce. There were 27 pupils in average attendance at the School. It became a State School on 1 January 1909. It closed on 8 December 1983 due to falling enrolments.
