These alphabetical registers contain the following details for each entry: name of the deceased, residence, occupation, date of death, date of order, date advertised, date claims may be paid, date estate may be distributed among next of kin, file number and year; the birth place of the deceased is also included 30 Oct 1877 - 12 Dec 1895. Most entries are stamped "file destroyed". If the files have survived they are located in the series of intestacy files (SRS335).

The register 28 May 1857 - 22 October 1880 (A/51786) contains entries copied from indexes 1857 - 1868 kept by William Pickering who was appointed Official Assignee 1 October 1857 replacing the former Registrar of the Supreme Court. Records of intestate estates may have been kept by the Registrar following the establishment of the Supreme Court in Moreton Bay from 1 April 1857.
