Description

This series consists of registers which were used to provide a record of Justices of the Peace.

The first register only gives the name and address of the nominated person and by whom nominated; some entries have a register number or Queensland Government Gazette reference. From the second register onwards the following information is given: date of appointment, name, address, by whom nominated and remarks.

A typed list of current justices of the peace appears in each register at the front of each respective letter of the alphabet. Any changes in address are noted as well as if the person has resigned or died. New appointments are entered immediately following the typed list for each letter of the alphabet.
