Description

The Comptroller-General, appointed by the Governor in Council, was in charge of all Queensland prisons, prison officers, and prisoners.

Prison officers of all levels, including the Comptroller General, usually kept diaries, journals and logbooks, etc. to record ocurrences and activities at their own prisons or, in this case, to record matters relating to the running of all Queensland prisons.

This series consists of a diary kept in 1955 by Mr William Rutherford, Comptroller General of Prisons.
