Information Sources

Under the "Agricultural Lands Purchase Act of 1894", and later the "Closer Settlement Act of 1906", any owner of land may offer to surrender to Her Majesty any land, at a price to be named. All land surrendered would be deemed to be Crown Land, to be disposed of as follows: a sufficient part of the land shall be set apart for roads, public reserves, townships, etc., the remainder to be proclaimed open to selection as agricultural farms.

This series consists of Closer Settlement Acts Fund ledgers of accounts for stations which came under the Closer Settlement Acts. Included are the pastoral holdings of Beauaraba, Cecil Plains, Clifton, Cooroy, Cryna, Durundur, Fitzroy Park, Glengallan, Goomburra, Gowrie, Headington Hill, Ideraway, Inkerman, Jimbour, Kilcoy, Lake Clarendon, Maryvale, Mount Russell, North Toolburra, Pinelands, Rosewood, Seaforth, Tarampa, Westbrook, Widgee and Woolooga.

The information provided includes: name of pastoral holding, Executive Minute's date, price, area, payment details, debit and credit columns, and annual totals/balances.

The first volume (1895-1921) is titled "Agricultural Land Purchases"; the second volume (1921-1931) is titled "Closer Settlement Acts Fund".
