Description

This series consists of registers of teachers which record personal, professional and employment details of teachers admitted to service in schools administered by the Boards of Education and subsequently the Public Instruction Department. Personal and professional details are entered under the following headings: teacher's name (by surname then given names), usual signature (by given names then surname), date of birth, nationality, religious denomination, admitted into the service (date), resigned (date), professional training, previous employment, classification, miscellaneous facts, name of wife, number of children etc.. Details of a teacher's migration to Queensland and earlier empoyment as a teacher - overseas, interstate or in non-state schools - may also be included. Details of service employment and performance are then entered in ledger format for the following: authority for record (name and reference), date, appointment - school, rank, duty - salary, information from inspectors' reports.

In the front of some volumes teachers' names and classifications are included, 1860 - 1887 (c.y.)
