This series consists of minutes of, and depositions taken in cases heard in the Court of Petty Sessions, Brisbane, acting as Police Court. Details for entries include: the date of hearing, name of Police Magistrate, and any other official hearing the case, the charge, those appearing for the plaintiff and defendant, sworn statements for prosecution and defence, plea, the verdict -including fines- and the signature of the Magistrate.

The cases heard could include drunkenness, disorderly conduct, assault, vagrancy, insulting or obscene language, violently resisting arrest, creating a disturbance, malicious damage to property, arson, theft, larceny, false pretences, defamation, child and/or wife desertion, non-payment of wages, stealing and possession of stolen property, unlawful use of horses and horse stealing, etc.
