Information Sources

This series consists of an album of photographs compiled by the Queensland Government Tourist Bureau to assist tourists in selecting accommodation. Some attempt was made to divide the album into geographical sections but this was not consistent. Places included are Brisbane city and seaside suburbs, South and North Coast towns, country towns such as Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, and towns in North Queensland including some on the Atherton Tableland. (There are also photographs of accommodation in Katoomba, New South Wales).

The photographs are mainly of exteriors of guest houses and hotels identified by hand-written building names and places; photographs of the landscaped grounds of guest houses, or natural features, are sometimes included. Some photographs of interiors are also included and are mostly of bedrooms and dining rooms. (A few loose photographs are unidentified). Details in the photographs include motor vehicles, passers-by as well as guests, for example, playing tennis or croquet, sitting or standing on the verandas or in the grounds.
