Description

This series consists of Certificates of Naturalisations and related correspondence filed in the Supreme Court of Queensland. In 1903 the Commonwealth Government assumed responsibility for the naturalisation of aliens.

Information provided in certificates originally included name of alien, place of residence, country of origin, date, and was signed by the Governor of Queensland and the Registrar of the Court. In later years the text of the certificate also included age, marital status, occupation and number of years residing in the Colony. Some of the related papers include copies of the person's Oath of Allegiance.
