Description

This series consists of half-yearly returns of burials at Moreton Bay penal settlement. These returns were kept in compliance with regulation 26.3 of 1829. (1)

Details are included under the headings: Name, Free or Bond, If convict by what ship, Age, When deceased, When Interred. The youngest recorded death was for a 1 year old, the oldest 61 years - a convict "killed by blacks". The half-yearly entries are signed, until 30 Jun 1835, by Commandant Clunie.

This volume contains six series of returns. Some of these series begin at the back of the book, upside down. At an unknown time, page numbers, starting from the back of the book, have been added in pencil. The burial returns are on two facing pages, 204 and 205.

This series comprises part of a collection which is inscribed on the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register (The Convict Records of Queensland 1825 - 1842).
