These volumes record the accounts of the Beenleigh Divisional Board, Beenlegh Shire Council and Albert Shire Council with various banks including the Queensland National Bank and the Commercial Bank. Details given for each receipt entry include: date of receipt, receipt number, particulars of cash received and deposited, ledger folio, and amount of deposit. Details of expenditure entries include: date and number of cheque, number of voucher, particular of payments made, name of ledger account, ledger folio, and amount of cheque. Account entries include roads, bridges, office rent, salaries, advertising, stationery, etc.
A/50759 - A/50760 also contain Beenleigh Shire Council Special Accounts cash book 23 Dec 1911 - 31 Dec 1925. From 8 Jun 1949, B/709 contains Albert Shire Council entries.
On 10 June 1949, Beenleigh, Coomera, Nerang (except Burleigh Heads area),Tingalpa (southern part), and Waterford (eastern part) were amalgamated into a newly formed Albert Shire Council.
On 8 June 1978, the Shire of Logan was separately incorporated, and Albert was transformed into a purely Gold Coast-area council. The Shire of Albert was amalgamated into Gold Coast City after a regulation gazetted on 16 December 1994.
