Description

These Administration files were created by the Intellectual Disability Service Branch of the Welfare Services Department, later part of the Department of Family Services. The Branch coordinated the various disability clinics, centres, units and villas located in Brisbane North, Brisbane South, Maryborough, Townsville, Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Ipswich.

Files are organised by subject and include correspondence, reports from staff and consultants, minutes from executive meetings, budgets, action plans and policy statements. The records document changes in services provided, such as the deinstitutionalization of various centres and the issues surrounding alternative living services. Most files are administrative; however there are a small number of files that have been restricted further due to personal content.
