This series comprises an Imperial Meat Fund Particulars of Shipments Book originating from the Chief Secretary's Department (which includes loose leaf notes and ledger sheets within the front cover). It specifically names particulars of frozen beef shipments made from Queensland for and on behalf of the Imperial Government from February 1915.
Details particularised include: the date of shipment, name of steamer, port of shipment, port of destination, name of supplier, number of ox crops or hinds, number of cow crops and hinds, number of cow crops and hinds passed, price per pound, value of beef. The book also comprises information about average pounds per quarter, price per pound, value of beef, freight cost, primage cost, war surtax, and grand total payment made to suppliers. Meat was supplied by for example: the Australian Meat Export Co Ltd, the Gladstone Meat Works of Queensland, Best & Co, John Cooke & Co, the Central Queensland Meat Export Co Ltd, the Queensland State Butchery and Thomas Borthwick and Sons Ltd amongst others.
