Description

When Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down on 17 July 2014, of the victims 38 were Australian residents and citizens.

The Queensland Government had condolence pages made available for Queenslanders to sign in all State electoral offices as well as: Government House, Parliament House and the Executive Building following the MH17 tragedy. These pages were gathered, copied and bound for the following bereaved:
Wayne and Theresa Baker’s family
Helena Sidelik’s family
Roger and Jill Guard’s family
Emma Bell’s family.
Howard and Susan Horder’s family

The original pages were bound to form this book.

In the tragedy, all on board including 283 passengers and 15 crew were killed. MH17 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that crashed after being shot down. The Boeing 777-200ER airliner lost contact with air traffic control about 50 km from the Ukraine–Russia border and crashed near Torez in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km from the border over territory controlled by pro-Russian separatists. The aircraft disintegrated after being hit by high-energy projectiles thought to have come from an exploding missile.
