Description

The series contains the files and reports created as part of the Committee's remit to investigate effects, advantages and disadvantages of daylight saving across Queensland, subsequent to the trial in the summer of 1971- 1972. The Committee was established by the Premier and Cabinet on 27 February 1973. A Committee of three, with Chairman Mr Peter Bell, OBE, and Secretary Mr C L Harris, was appointed. Submissions were called and hearings took place in Brisbane and regional Queensland. The files consist of administrative correspondence concerning the establishment of the Committee, fees and supporting documents; press cuttings; queries; submissions from the various regions of Queensland; summaries of proceedings; and the draft and final report, presented on 3 July 1973. The series also includes an index to files.
