Information Sources

This series contains files and volumes related to proposed changes in Family Welfare Legislation and child protection. The Children' Services Act 1965 was in place up until 1999 when the Child Protection Act 1999 was proclaimed. These files are the intial development stages of new legislation.
Included is a discussion paper which was released to outline the proposed changes to legislation regarding children and family and the primary reason in releasing this was to recieve feedback, responses, and suggestions for the new legisaltion. This series contains many of those responses which came from persons within government organisations and from the public in the form of written responses and set questionairre response forms. There are a series of drafts of the proposed legislaton and two reports of the proposed family welfare legislation.
