Description

The "Commission of Inquiry into the care and treatment of patients in the psychiatric unit of the Townsville General Hospital" was to investigate whether between 1975 to 1988 any patient in the Psychiatric Unit (Ward 10B) was cared for or treated in a manner which was negligent, unsafe, unethical or unlawfull, and if so, to establish whether there was sufficient evidence to prosecute or take disciplinary proceedings.

This series consists of briefs of information, mostly photocopies of "miscellaneous documents indicative of groupings of evidence" [The Recods System"], presented to the Commissioner and to be used during hearings.
