This series consists of Mackay District Hospital (later Mackay Base Hospital) registers of Australian Defence Forces admissions/discharges, maintenance and treatment, Australian Defence Forces/Main Roads Commission admissions/discharges and U.S.A. Defence Forces admissions/discharges as well as a short list of outpatients (X-rays) records.
The admission registers for Australian soldiers give the following information for each entry: date of admission, name of patient, their "reg." number (either regiment or registration), rank, unit, diagnosis/disability and date of discharge. From Aug 1944, age, religion, hospital charges and remarks were added. The registrations for repatriated patients include their address at the time. The records regarding maintenance and treatment include the date range of stay at hospital, hospital charges, name of patient and his/her Defence Force I.D. number (i.e. QX31093, V245335, NX68886, etc.), where posted (i.e.26th Infantry Batallion, Tank Attach Battery, etc.), and details of their disabilities.
The U.S.A. Forces records have a "Serial" No. instead of "Reg." No. There are eleven entries between 12 Apr 1943 and 4 Aug 1943 with details of X-Rays taken (p.101).
