Information Sources

These batches comprise bundles of correspondence, each of which deals with a particular subject matter. The correspondence includes registered and unregistered letters, top-numbered in-letters registered by the Colonial Secretary's Office, Home Secretary's Office, and Lands Department, photographs and newspaper cuttings. Some of these batches also include handwritten and/or typed summaries of contents, which were created and added to the files, before their transfer to the Queensland State Archives. This series includes batch files on marriages, bonds, wages, Aboriginal schools, complaints, Cape Bedford and Bloomfield River mission stations. Some of the earlier correspondence on these batch files predates the Northern Protector of Aboriginals Office; the correspondence has been registered by either the Colonial Secretary's Office or the Home Secretary's Office.
