This series is an index to persons, businesses, government agencies, institutions, churches, suburbs and cities.
The cards list correspondence received on a wide range of matters: naturalisation, reports of crime, appreciation of police, stolen property etc. Also included is correspondence received from other police in Queensland and other states, indexes by person's surname which details crimes committed, arrests, accidents, traffic accidents, deaths, suicides and other incidents.
For each entry the following is recorded: name of person who has corresponded, or committed an offence, been involved in an accident etc.; name of business, agency, institution etc.; date of correspondence entered, brief description of correspondence and file reference number. The file numbers on each card refer to Police Department files including: C - Crime, T - Traffic, S - Police Station etc. The majority of these files are not held by Queensland State Archives.
The cards are arranged in three different sequences; the first is by name; second is by business name and the third is by inner city Brisbane street and then by suburbs and cities. The business name section includes the names of companies, government agencies and departments, publications etc. The street, suburb and city sequence lists correspondence received relating to specific locations, including locations outside Queensland.
