Information Sources

Description

Files concerning matters of the civil defence of the State of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia directed to or for the attention of the Premier of Queensland. Consists of correspondence, conference and committee papers, reports, notes and minutes. Subjects include the American Hydrogen Bomb Tests at Bikini Atoll, ASIO, Federal and State Police, the Australian Communist Party, subversive activities, defence expenditure, Hospital accommodation, equipment, and maintenance, and national infrastructure, such as mines, water supply, electrical generation, and roads. On 22 October 1963 the Premier and Chief Secretary's Department was succeeded by the Premier's Department.
