Information Sources

These registers record personal and medical details of patients admitted to the Brisbane Hospital. The entries vary between volumes: both volumes record personal particulars including name, age, parents' names, place of birth, occupation, religion, marital status, ship on which arrived, duration of time spent in the colony, and last residence; the volume 1887 also records the patient's sex, next of kin, further parent's details such as father's occupation, particulars of living children (including christian names, and ages last birthday), and particulars of children dead (number and sex),

The medical details recorded in both volumes include the name of the doctor, the disease and in some instances the treatment or history of the case, and dates of discharge or death of the patient; the volume 1887 also includes the ward number.
