Letterbooks of copies of letters sent to the Agent-General's Office (addressed to either Secretary or Chief Clerk) from the Under-Secretary of the Chief Secretary's Department. Correspondence relates mainly to administrative matters such as payment of salaries to staff of the Agent-General's Office, appointment and payment of contractors on behalf of the Government, and advices re shipments of goods from the colony and payment for same. Also included are acknowledgements and text of telegrams between the offices together with some translations of coded telegrams.
