Description

This series comprises unofficial letters and telegrams addressed to the Chief Secretary on matters such as representations on various issues, particularly appointments to the government, invitations, appreciations, electoral issues, etc., some of which are marked "personal", "not official' or "confidential". Some correspondence, particularly from 1904 onwards includes copies of replies, mostly from the Under Secretary, attached to the inwards letter or telegram.
