Description

This series consists of a letterbook of correspondence (letters and telegrmas) sent by the Police Commissioner regarding the "Aboriginal Protection and Sale of Opium Act 1897". Correspondence was sent to Inspectors of Police, Dr. Roth and A. Meston as Protectors of Aboriginals, and to the Home Office. The correspondence includes references to appointments of police as Protectors of Aboriginals, opium prosecutions, trackers and other aborigines, and Chinese persons.

There is an alphabetical index to names of recipients of correspondence in the front of the volume with entries for dates, page numbers and particulars of subjects.
