Description

Section 66 of the Crown Lands Alienation Act of 1868 enabled any person who held a sugar or coffee lease under a previous Act, to apply to bring it under the provisions of the Act as it applied to the selection of agricultural land by conditional purchasers. If at the time of application the conditions had been met the land could be purchased.

These files generally start at the time of the proclamation of the act. Sometimes there is reference to the earlier selection. In a few instances the files extended into the 20th century, usually because of a road case file.

Documents include the lease, the selector's copy of the lease that was returned when the land was purchased, transfer documents, application to purchase, descriptions of the land, survey plans, deed of grant, Government Gazette notices and correspondence.
