This series comprises inwards and outwards official correspondence of the Office of the Governor of Queensland in the form of letters, despatches and telegrams. Subjects include administrative matters as well as those reflecting the status, role and official functions performed by the Governor over time. Some correspondence is marked "confidential", "personal" or "secret", with some telegrams in Colonial Office cypher. The correspondence includes despatches from the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs including notices of international congresses, letters received from the Admiral on Station, other Governors, Consuls and Special Commissioners, Colonial Service examinations and appointments, papers on medical and agricultural research, Overseas/Empire migration and settlement, reciprocal maintenance orders, Royal accessions and tours.
The correspondence also includes such items as printed copies of Queensland parliamentary legislation, some of which have comment by the Governor; statistics from government departments; papers on aboriginal affairs, presentation of medals, honours and awards, activities of various associations, consular appointments, defence and recruiting; New Guinea and correspondence with the office of the Governor-General about protocol, procedure, precedence and staff.
