This series consists of district maps, drawn to the scale of 20 chains to an inch. Details depicted include topographic features, reserves, roads, tramways, property boundaries and type of holding (freehold or leasehold), lessees' names and type of lease (eg. agricultural and grazing farm, grazing homestead, grazing homestead freehold lease, prickly pear selection, prickly pear development selection, perpetual lease selection and purchase lease and auction perpetual lease etc.), real property information (ie. subdivision, re-subdivision, section and lot numbers) and permit to occupy numbers. Other information includes names and boundaries of land agent and pastoral districts, counties and parishes, mining fields, irrigation channels and drains, and astronomical and trigonometrical stations etc. In addition, each map refers to a Survey Office plan and real property plan number.
These prints were created by the Survey Office (later the Mapping and Surveying Department) for sale and distribution. The original maps comprise a separate series held by Queensland State Archives.
