In 1988 HM Prison, Woodford, was renamed Woodford Correctional Centre. In August 1991 Woodford Correctional Centre was decommissioned with prisoners being relocated to available accommodation in other centres. The old buildings were demolished and a new prison was built on the same site. Construction of the new Woodford Correctional Centre was completed in March 1997.

FUNCTIONS:

Prisoner punishment and rehabilitation

ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE:
A Superintendent was appointed by the Governor in Council to be in charge of the prison. Since 1988 each prison is headed by a General Manager.
