Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
From 29 June 1998 the Department of Training and Industrial Relations was renamed the Department of Employment,Training and Industrial Relations.

FUNCTIONS:
Employment
Employment policies and programs
Industrial relations
Public sector management policy (reserved matters only)
Public sector remuneration matters and wages policy (excluding Senior Executive Service and Senoir Officer arrangements)
Workers' compensation
Workplace health and safety
Vocational education and training (including technical and further education].

On 3 August 2000, the Public Service Departmental Arrangements Notice (No 2) 2000 declared that the part of the Office of the Public Service Commissioner known as:
- Workforce Practices, and
- Public service training implementation
be amalgamated with the Department of Employment, Training and Industrial Relations and declared to be part of the Department.

ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE:
Functions were carried out by the Divisions of Training, Workplace Health and Safety, and Industrial Relations, and by TAFE Queensland, and Workcover Queensland.

ABOLITION:
From 22 Feb 2001, the Department was renamed the Department of Employment and Training, and a new Department of Industrial Relations was established.
