Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
On 29 June 1998, under Public Service Departmental Arrangements Order (No. 3) 1998 and Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 1) 1998, the Justice Department was renamed the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.

On 12 December 2017, under the Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 3) 2017, this Department continued to operate under the same name. Responsibilities have changed over time, under various administrative arrangements.

FUNCTIONS
As at 21 December 2017 under Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 4) 2017, the functions of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General are as follows:

On 16 February 2015 under Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 1) 2015: the Anzac Day Trust, Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Authority, Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Authority, Electrical Licensing Committee, and Electrical Safety Board were transferred to Queensland Treasury.

On 12 December 2017 under Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 3) 2017: Youth Justice Services were transferred to the newly created Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women.

On 21 December 2017 under Admininistrative Arrangements Order (No. 4) 2017: Queensland Corrective Services became a department in its own right, assuming responsibility for Adult Corrective Services (excluding offender health services) previously administered by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
