* On 26 Apr 1935 a Faculty of Dentistry was established at the University of Queensland offering the Degree of Bachelor of Dental Science. Under the 1935 Amendment Act all responsibility for the study, training and examination of students in dentistry was taken from the Dental board and given to the University of Queensland.

** Under the 1959 Amendment Act, dental specialty was prescribed as a branch of dentistry. The Act stated that a Register of Dental Specialists, Queensland, be made and kept under the Act.

ABOLITION:
From 1 July 2010 the Dental Board of Queensland was abolished and a new national agency, the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency, responsible for administration of registration of health professionals was introduced under the "Health Practitioner Regulation (Administrative Arrangements) National Law Act 2008", the "Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009" and the "Health Legislation (Health Practitioner Regulation National Law) Amendment Act 2010". The National Agency took over the administrative functions of the Council while the Dental Board of Australia took over the registration and accreditation of dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists and dental prosthetists.

A transition period followed the implementation of the new arrangements.
