Description
Mardale State School originally opened as Lawgi State School on 19 September 1935 with the first registration of pupils. The school began in a temporary room pending erection of the new State School building. The school's first Head Teacher, James Roy Johnson, had been transferred to the area on 16 September 1935 from his last placement at Hughendon. In 1952 the school underwent a name-change to "Mardale State School", and eventually closed on 13 March 1964 with the institution of a School Transport Service for the remaining students.
