West Hill School No 1645 opened on the North Coast Line as a Provisional School on 20 May 1925. The First Head Teacher was Alice King. It became a State School in 1928.

The school was "mothballed"* on 31 Dec 2004.

Mothballed* This term is applied to schools that are effectively closed but assets are maintained in case the school becomes viable again in the future.
