Description
Marburg State School originally opened as Frederick State School on 18 March 1879 with David Freeman as its Head Teacher. The school was constructed in the previous year (1878) and it was estimated that 30 pupils would attend the school when it opened. The school exceeded expectations with an annual enrolment of 70 pupils recorded in the Teacher Return for the school's first year. By 1887, when the school changed its name to Marburg State School, the school required the attendance of four teachers, including Head Teacher, Catherine Healy.
