Description
The original two acre site of what is now Mutdapilly State School No. 152 was given to the Education Department by a Mr Denman in 1872. The school originally was called Normanby because of its location on the Normanby Plains. The Education Act 1860 established all of the State schools at the time. The original school and residence was completed in February 1874 and Normanby State School opened on 27 April 1874. The first head teacher was John Stanfell Clowes who served at the school until 31 July 1876. According to the report of the District Inspector, the School's total enrolments numbered 56 by 26 November 1874.

Normanby State School became Mutdapilly State School on 1 April 1968.
