Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
On 26 Feb 1996, under Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 2) 1996 and Public Service Management and Employment (Departmental Changes) Order (No. 2) 1996, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet was established, replacing the Department of Premier, Economic and Trade Development.

On 16 February 2015, under the Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 1) 2015, this Department continued to operate under the same name and previous responsibilities, with the exception of 'Overall Public Sector Management and Employment Conditions', which was transferred to the Public Service Commission.

On 12 December 2017 and 21 December 2017, under Public Service Departmental Arrangements Notices (No. 3 and No. 4), the Department continued to operate under the same name with the previous responsibilities, with the exception of Arts Queensland and Corporate Administration Agency both of which transferred to the Department of Environment and Science. New responsibilities transferred from the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation include One-Stop Shop Strategy and Implementation Office, Queensland Government Chief Information Office, Digital Economy and Productivity (excluding responsibility for open data and digital economy policy and collaboration) and provision of corporate and executive services to these services.

FUNCTIONS:
As at 21 December 2017, under Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 4) 2017, the functions of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet are as follows:
