PORTFOLIO CONTROLLING:

Minister for Health 1 Jan 1975 -

ABOLITION:
From 1 July 2010 the Optometrists Board of Queensland was abolished and a new national agency, the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency, responsible for administration of registration of health professionals was introduced under the "Health Practitioner Regulation (Administrative Arrangements) National Law Act 2008", the "Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009" and the "Health Legislation (Health Practitioner Regulation National Law) Amendment Act 2010". The National Agency took over the administrative functions of the Council while the Optometry Board of Australia took over the registration and accreditation of optometrists.

A transition period followed the implementation of the new arrangements.
