Description
With the passing of the "Police Act 1863" and the establishment of the Police Department, the Native Police was organised into districts under Inspectors. The Native Police Inspector, Northern District stationed at Springsure was appointed 3 Feb 1865. This organisational structure was short-lived and the Native Police ceased to operate as a separate agency approximately 1867. The Native Police Inspector at Springsure then became the Chief Inspector, Northern District from Jan 1867.
