Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
The Little Liverpool Main Road Board was a joint local authority established under the Local Authorities Acts 1902-1913, initially constituted by the union of the Councils of the Town of Laidley and the Shires of Laidley and Rosewood.

FUNCTIONS:
The joint authority was established for the purpose of forming and maintaining a new main road through the Little Liverpool Range and for making and enforcing by-laws with respect to such road. The Board was also responsible for managing a common fund to which each of the Authorities contributed, and for maintaining its own accounts.

ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE:
When the Town of Laidley was amalgamated with the Shire of Laidley on 8 February 1917, the Little Liverpool Main Road Board was reconstituted effective from 10 March 1917 to reflect the altered local authorities. Under the provisions of the Order in Council, the reconstituted joint authority comprised four members, of whom two were to be elected by the Councils of the Shires of Laidley and Rosewood. The Board nominated its own President (Chairman) and Secretary. The Board was responsible to the Home Secretary and later to the Director of Local Government.

ABOLITION:
The Rosewood Laidley Road was proclaimed a "Secondary Road" under the Main Roads Acts 1920-1943 on 22 May 1947, and the powers originally vested in the Board were assumed by the Commissioner for Main Roads. The Board was subsequently dissolved on 7 August 1947.
