Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
On 26 March 2009, under Public Service Departmental Arrangements Notice (No. 2) 2009, the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation was established replacing the Departments of Mines and Energy, Primary Industries and Fisheries, and Tourism Regional Development and Industry. The new department also gained: the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing from Treasury; employment and Indigenous initiatives from the previous Department of Employment and Industrial Relations; Trade Queensland form the previous Department of Transport; Fair Trading from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General; and International Collaborations from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

From 21 February 2011 the functions of liquor and gaming and fair trading were transferred to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, and the functions and duties of the Coordinator-General were transferred from the Department of Infrastructure and Planning (abolished) to this Department.

FUNCTIONS:
Departmental responsbilities were established in Administrative Arrangements Order (No. 1) 2009, but have changed over time.
