Description
ESTABLISHMENT:
Following the "Industrial Arbitration Act of 1916", Police Magistrates were appointed on 30 January 1917 to act in the capacity of the newly-created Industrial Magistrates. Maryborough thereby gained an Industrial Magistrates Court.

Under the "Justices Amendment Act of 1964", Stipendiary Magistrates and Clerks of the Court were empowered to act as Industrial Magistrates.

FUNCTIONS:
Industrial Magistrates hear cases which involve claims for wages, breaches of industrial agreements, compensation for dismissal and other industrial issues.
