Web Search Help

Dates
• You may enter the date range you wish to search. You may also enter only a From Date or a To Date. The date format to use is dd/mm/yyyy.
For example, to search for Series created in the period 1920-1940:
Enter From Date 1/1/1920
Enter To Date 31/12/1940

• A date range search will retrieve all records falling within the specified range. For example, the above search would retrieve Series with the following dates:
1880-1950
1894-1932
1926-1952
1924-1936

• Selecting a From Date of 1/1/1920 without a To Date would retrieve any Series that was created on or after 1/1/1920 but would not retrieve a Series that closed prior to 1920.
• Selecting a To Date of 31/12/1940 without a From Date would retrieve any Series that was created on or before 31/12/1940 but would not retrieve a Series that commenced after 1940.

Transfer ID
This is used mainly by Government Agencies where the QSA transfer number is known. Enter the number only, i.e. do not enter ‘TR’ at the beginning of the number and do not enter the slash (/) or the numbers after it; for example, to search for TR1795/1 enter 1795 in the Transfer ID field.

Previous System ID
Any location numbers with a prefix consisting of a letter or letters is a previous system location number. Examples of these are: JUS/N, RSI2929, SRS2997, PRV7930. Enter Previous System numbers without spaces. This search works best if you also type a word or words into the initial search box. All Agencies, Series and Items also have an identification number (without prefix) which can be used in a Retrieve Using ID Search.
