Nineteenth Century Public Buildings
This exhibition highlights a selection of architectural plans from Queensland State Archives Series ID 19600. This collection of building plans characterises the early public buildings, mostly of timber construction that had been built in Queensland since the colony was formed in 1859. Generally, these plans were drawn between c 1883 and c 1887, by the Colonial Architect’s Office.

Our Built Heritage

Images of the Sandgate precinct including Eventide Home, Redcliffe, Clontarf and Scarborough precincts depicting the area during the 1930s to 1950s . This collection was created to commemorate the official opening of the Ted Smout Memorial Bridge on 11 July 2010.

Story Bridge
This exhibition of images from Queensland State Archives collection celebrates the 75th anniversary of the commencement of construction of the Story Bridge in Brisbane. Construction on this cantilever bridge began on 24 May 1935 with the gap being closed on 28 October 1939. The bridge was opened on 6 July 1940, and is named in honour of John Douglas Story. Images include dignitaries, blueprints of deck details, the workshop at Rocklea and wide-angle and other views.
